We live in an increasingly connected world, affecting all areas of life. Smart City projects worldwide are addressing this issue, but they are primarily focused on the challenges faced by megacities and metropolitan areas in the context of urbanization. However, all cities and municipalities can benefit from intelligent, digital solutions! In East Westphalia-Lippe (OWL), we are well-known for our expertise in smart technical systems. That’s why, since May 2018, the Fraunhofer IOSB-INA has been operating the IoT Real Lab Lemgo DIGITAL at its home location as an open innovation and testing platform for the digital transformation of municipalities. A wide range of tested IoT solutions has already been developed here in the areas of mobility, attractive city centers, and the environment, which municipalities can quickly adopt.
